What’s Coming Up In July 2010
Fourth of July
Fourth of July is a federal holiday, commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 declaring independence from the kingdom of Great Britain.
The Second Continental Congress approved a resolution of independence, explaining their decision, which had been prepared by a Committee of Five, two days earlier. Congress debated and revised the Declaration, finally approving it on July 4th. It is now celebrated in all states and territories of the U.S. and now observing its 234th birthday this year, (2010).
